Making Legacy

‘Legacy’ is the first of three pieces for Collect Open.  It is based on Diana Springall’s studio in a Kent Oast house that she converted as a home, studio, and teaching space.  After drawing out the space meticulously, I am now sampling different options for stitching it.  This version uses different coloured threads in striated bands to give the impression of bans of time, from the life of the building to all the people that Diana has inspired through her teaching over the years. 

Unfortunately, the variations in colour worked against the image, so following this, the thread colour was simplified, but softly pained bands of colour were introduced to convey this in a different way.
